Monthly Recap - August & September 2026
Bet you just blinked and now it’s autumn, yeah?
Our team has spent the summer rebuilding the app, reworking its back-end architecture, and figuring out how to improve one of crypto’s toughest problems:
how to make this technology accessible to a mainstream audience. More specifically, how to make stablecoin payments simple enough that even a grandmother can use them.
Meanwhile, our bridge is picking up traction. Over 400m HANDL was bridged in Q3 (approx $1 million USD), total 700m since inception. We have also added support for and bridged 26m EDEL. (approx $500k USD)
We launched the HandlPay Founders Circle: Members get access to a dedicated Telegram group, direct access to the team, and closer input on product direction and project strategy. Head to our token page and scroll down to get access to the program.
What to expect for October:
The launch of HandlPay 2.0, a major partnership announcement, and token burns!
HandlPay 2.0’s new features will ship in sequence, not all at once. Updates include:
- Completely revamped app, with new UI and UX. A full redesign built on lessons from the past two and a half years, aimed at making the product attractive to non-crypto people.
- Simple default interface with a "crypto mode" toggle. The app opens with no crypto jargon. A button in the menu activates crypto mode, which unlocks advanced features.
- All received payments land on the Canton Network. This is the major architectural change: every payment a HandlPay user receives arrives in their Canton wallet.
- Private receiving by default. Because funds arrive on Canton, the sender cannot see what is in the recipient's wallet, even if the recipient shares their payment handle publicly on social media.
- Off-ramps. Recipients will be able to convert to local currency through off-ramp partners. We will start with a focus on Latin America.
- Ability to send payments to usernames that have not signed up to HandlPay yet. Funds land in an escrow contract and the user receives a DM inviting them to sign up to claim the money.
- Pay a handle with Apple Pay. This feature will be re-enabled with fewer clicks than before.
- Bridge built into the payment flow. The sender's side runs transparently on EVM, then the bridge moves funds to Canton behind the scenes.
- One account, one wallet, many handles. Today, each sign-up method creates a separate wallet. In 2.0, you have a single wallet and can attach any socials to it. Existing users with multiple accounts can designate one as the main account and the rest merge into it.
- API stack. Payments to social usernames will be available through APIs. This means that third parties (e.g. any other wallet) can trigger payments to social media usernames or WhatsApp numbers all over the world.
🔥 Starting next week, we will start burning the cumulative amount of fees collected since inception in HANDL, based on fees collected from the network. Initially, the burn rate will be 200% of fees collected and will gradually reduce as volume increases.
Details will be shared soon.
We appreciate your support in this journey!
